Nail fungus, also called onychomycosis, is a common condition estimated to affect up to 10% of the population worldwide. It can cause nails to become yellow or discolored. As the infection advances the nail can become thick, brittle and separate from the nail bed. It can also cause pain when wearing shoes or walking.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is Laser Genesis?
Genesis is a Nd:YAG 1064nm laser that has a safe and effective solution for the treatment of nail infection (onychomycosis), more commonly known as toenail fungus.
What causes nail infection?
Dermatophytes are the fungi most commonly responsible for causing this condition. They are specialized organisms that live off of keratin
which is the main component of nails and skin. The most common fungi that cause nail infection disease are Trichophyton rubrum,
Trichophyton mentagrophytes, and Candida albicans. Everyone is at risk for infection because fungus is present everywhere in the environment.
What are the symptoms of nail infection?
You may be suffering from nail infection (onychomycosis) if you have one or more of the following symptoms:
Yellow streaks under the nail
Distorted or thickened nails
Brittle, crumbly or ragged nail
Nails separated from the underlying skin
Buildup of debris (nail fragments, skin) under the nail
White spots or streaks on the nail surface
Is the laser treatment is painful?
The laser light beam does not harm the nail or surrounding skin. While some patients may experience mild discomfort from the heat the laser generates, usually the treatment is painless, and there is never a need for anesthesia.
How long the treatment takes?
On average, our appointments last less than an hour and the vast majority of our patients require only one treatment. Whether you have one nail with fungus or more, our doctor carefully treats all ten toe nails to ensure that pathogens are vaporized. We are committed to providing the best quality laser treatment available to every one of our patients.
Does it really work?
Thousands of patients have now been treated throughout the world. Results are showing that the vast majority of treated patients show significant improvement and in most cases, fungal nails are completely cured. Clear and beautiful toenails can be a reality for you!*
How soon will I see improvement?
On average, a toenail will replace itself every 9-12 months. Healthy new growth will be visible within the first 3 months as your nails continue to grow. The laser treatment will not cause your toenails to discolor or fall off.
Is the treatment safe?
In the hundreds of patients we have treated there have been NO adverse reactions, injuries, disabilities or known side effects associated with laser treatment. As you may know, oral medication available today for treating toenail fungus carries with it possible serious health risks (commonly the liver and kidneys). The laser treatment for toenail fungus has no known side effects.
Can I walk after the treatment?
Yes - the treatment does not harm you in any way. You will be able to put on your shoes and walk out of the office, just as well as you walked in. You can wear shoes and pedicures are not prohibited after laser treatment.*
Is the treatment expensive?
Nail fungus treatment is considered aesthetic and therefore is not covered by insurance plans; however treatment is affordable. The cost for many patients is LESS expensive than prescription medications they have tried in the past, often without success. We offer several payment options and our staff will be happy to answer any questions you have.
