Nasolabial folds are creases on the sides of the nose that extend to the corners of the mouth, and sometimes curve around slightly under the lip creating a parentheses look. They can be relatively fine (a fine wrinkle) to a deep fold, even to the point that the skin above seems to hang over it. Many individuals begin to see this sign of aging in their 40's - although younger people with prominent cheeks may also have nasolabial folds. Nasolabial folds often deepen with time, marking a face as a tired, older face. Nasolabial folds are often referred to as nasolabial lines, nasolabial wrinkles, n/l folds, and smile lines and can be fine or very deep wrinkles.
